Hello! My name is Michael Sloan, and I would like to share with you a glimpse into my life!
I earned my black belt in Tae Kwon Do at the age of ten. Also at the age of ten, I performed in my first musical: Children of Eden. Performing alongside the Ithaca College students in that production established my dream of studying musical theatre in college. I stopped Tae Kwon Do and transitioned from a martial artist to a performing artist.
The vibrant arts community in my hometown of Ithaca, NY provided me many opportunities in the performing arts. I enrolled in dance classes, took voice lessons, acted in student films, and performed with a youth community theatre group run by an alumnus of the BFA Acting program at Ithaca College.
In December 2020, I fulfilled my childhood dreams by graduating Summa Cum Laude with a BFA in Musical Theater and business minor from Syracuse University. I was fortunate enough to have multiple educational and professional performance opportunities during my time at Syracuse. Some highlights include working on a Hulu film with Emmy Award winning choreographer Travis Wall, working with Broadway’s Judy McLane on Syracuse Stage’s production of Next to Normal, spending a summer performing at The Hangar Theatre back in my hometown, and participating in The Glimmerglass Festival’s virtual season in the Summer of 2020.
Outside of the arts; I enjoy traveling, playing soccer and golf, working out, and spending time with friends/family. I’m a huge Syracuse Basketball fan, Cornell Hockey fan, and Pittsburgh Steelers fan (I have no connection to Pittsburgh.. I picked them at a young age because they’re yellow and I love yellow).
I spent my first year after graduation working in the healthcare field, but then decided to continue my full-time pursuit of working as an actor/singer/dancer in NYC.
Since then, I’ve been fortunate to have some amazing professional performing opportunities. One of which was working as a lead vocalist and vocal captain on the Regent Seven Seas Explorer; traveling to Alaska, Australia, and Asia. While on board, I produced, directed, and performed my first solo show. Another highlight was playing Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys at The Winnipesaukee Playhouse in New Hampshire this past summer.
